Belle Meade Farm
Belle Meade Farm specializes in pastured livestock raised without hormones or antibiotics, including cows, pigs, chickens, laying hens, and turkeys, as well as organic vegetables. The farm also features horses, dogs, cats, and an abundance of wildlife. Here at Belle Meade, all of our animal products are free-range and the beef is grass-fed. We practice management intensive rotational grazing in which our herd of cattle rotate through our pastures on a daily basis.
Integration with Belle Meade School
The Belle Meade Farm works in conjunction with The Belle Meade School. Students learn skills for sustainability by working around the farm and helping with farm chores. Each week, they take a basket of food home to their families that they helped to grow.
 | All livestock at Belle Meade Farm is free-range without hormones or antibiotics. The beef is all grass-fed. This process produces a lean, healthy meat. Since the meat is so lean, be careful to not to overcook. Steaks and roasts will taste better cooked medium or rare. Long, slow cooking with moisture is good for pot roasts. All of our meat is fully guaranteed or money back. Our chickens are pasture raised and free range. In addition to eating some grain they pick for grubs, bugs and the occasional worm. That is why they taste so good. Our eggs, some of them blue, taste like you never tasted before. Our turkeys (free roaming and pasture raised) typically sell out weeks before Thanksgiving. That is how good they taste. For Christmas we have typically a few geese, which fatten themselves on anything good they can find to eat in our pastures. |  |
