The Rappahannock Natural Foods Cooperative (RNF Coop) is a small farmers’ coop which was formed with the idea of allowing customers in the Washington DC area to shop at one location for all their local and natural farm products from a reliable source. Belle MeadeBelle Meade Farm specializes in pastured livestock raised without hormones or antibiotics, including cows, pigs, chickens, laying hens, and turkeys, as well as organic vegetables. The farm also features horses, dogs, cats, and an abundance of wildlife. Here at Belle Meade, all of our animal products are free-range and the beef is grass-fed. We practice management intensive rotational grazing in which our herd of cattle rotate through our pastures on a daily basis. Belle Ridge FarmBelle Ridge Farm offers the best natural pork sausage, free range eggs and from time to time rose veal and chevon (goats). Their spotted Gloucester pigs, chickens and calves all roam around freely in pasture and woodlands. The Belle Ridge Farm has its roots going back to the early 1700s when Kathy's Grove ancestors settled in Woodville, one of Rappahannock's most picturesque and best preserved small villages. El Rancho GrandeEl Rancho Grande is a cattle farm in Castleton, VA. It is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ride in beautiful Rappahannock County, VA. El Rancho Grande was started by our grandfather Ray T. Cannon over 70 years ago. Green Wood FarmThe Green Wood farm was established in 1748 by Mr. Gid Brown right against the Blue Ridge Mountains in Rappahannock County, VA. At that time it amounted to about 1,200 acres. Over the years the farm was split up and partially sold to its tenants which included slaves. My father retired from the military in the late 1950s and bought one of the remaining parts in 1960 then called Hilltop Farm. The family has been trying to put back the original Green Wood farm ever since. We now own 975 acres of the original acres, which includes the original homestead. Kelly FarmAt Kelly Farms, you will always see livestock being livestock. We started selling grassfed meat in 2000 to a local restaurant in Sperryville, VA. We raise breeds of cattle and goats that have proved hearty and prolific. The Texas longhorns, three way crossed beef cattle, and boer/crossed goats navigate Kelly Farm's pastures today. The only fence containment is for their safety and to keep them out of the local traffic. The only time they are handled is when they are being moved from pasture to plate. We go to great lengths to make sure that they eat only the best quality forage. We also care about the land as much as the livestock themselves; meaning no herbicides, no chemical fertilizers, or raw sewage is used. We feed our pastures the basics: sunshine and rain. Eat from Kelly Farms and you'll be doing the same. Meadow Green FarmMeadow Green Farm provides grass fed natural pork, by the cut, half or whole pork. Our pigs roam, they dig, they graze. We let our pigs be pigs. They don’t get fat gorging themselves on antibiotic-laced feed, but slowly on fescue and clover rich pasture. They have a happy, if short life. Happy well-cared for pigs taste good. Rappahannock FarmsRappahannock Farms was created in 2008 when two farming friends sat down to discuss how they could expand their lamb production to meet growing market demand and at the same time help bolster local family farms. The result of that discussion is Rappahannock Farms, LLC - dedicated to bringing you the best quality foods straight from our farms to your home. Williams' OrchardsWilliams' Orchards have been in the County for many many years and is one of the Coop's first members. They will be offering fruit, produce and natural beef.
