Natural Beef
Our members are proud to produce the best all natural beef. They raise their cattle year around on grass and do not feed them any antibiotics as part of their food or give them growth hormones. They roam around freely, enjoying the lush Piedmont pastures. The only difference with our 100% grass fed beef is that these cattle have enjoyed a supplement of grain for about 2 months. This supplement enables the meat to marble (make it fatter) which is what many people prefer, particularly on the BBQ.
We are sure you wil enjoy our 100% natural beef and hope to have you back as a customer for many years to come.
Farms carrying Natural Beef
El Rancho Grande is a cattle farm in Castleton, VA. It is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ride in beautiful Rappahannock County, VA. El Rancho Grande was started by our grandfather Ray T. Cannon over 70 years ago.
The Green Wood farm was established in 1748 by Mr. Gid Brown right against the Blue Ridge Mountains in Rappahannock County, VA. At that time it amounted to about 1,200 acres. Over the years the farm was split up and partially sold to its tenants which included slaves. My father retired from the military in the late 1950s and bought one of the remaining parts in 1960 then called Hilltop Farm. The family has been trying to put back the original Green Wood farm ever since. We now own 975 acres of the original acres, which includes the original homestead.
Belle Ridge Farm offers the best natural pork sausage, free range eggs and from time to time rose veal and chevon (goats). Their spotted Gloucester pigs, chickens and calves all roam around freely in pasture and woodlands. The Belle Ridge Farm has its roots going back to the early 1700s when Kathy's Grove ancestors settled in Woodville, one of Rappahannock's most picturesque and best preserved small villages.
